He has performed over 11,000 phacoemulsification surgeries, which is a surgical technique for removing cataracts using ultrasound.
Dr. Leelapattana is highly specialized in the use of advanced ophthalmic equipment like AMO Sovereign (White-star) phacoemulsification system, Alcon Infinity Phaco System, and Bausch & Lomb Stellaris.
Dr. Leelapattana is also proficient in retinal and anterior segment laser surgery and various ophthalmic diagnostic procedures such as spectralis 3D OCT, ICG angiography, fundus fluorescein angiography, B-scan ultrasonography, Stratus optical coherence tomography, and GDX-VCC.
He obtained his MD from the Faculty of Medicine at Mahidol University, Siriraj Hospital in Thailand in 1972 and a Diploma of the Thai Board of Ophthalmology Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok. He also completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital in England.
